I wonder . . .

. . . what is the significance of the different modes of suicide by the female characters in Shakespeare's tragedies.

That is a good question.
The suicide in Hamlet is definitely one from madness.
When I was at Andrews there was a production of Hamlet in Chicago at a Shakespeare's Globe replica with a very popular actor to be in it. When I found out about it, all the tickets were sold! :( At least I did get to see King Lear there.
